Our Story

Plastic Free Phoenix launched in August 2025 by a group of Arizona friends concerned about plastic pollution. When founder Julie Morrison saw her own workplace save over 78,000 water bottles from landfills and incinerators, we knew we could replicate this success. The concept is beautifully simple: change behavior by changing what’s offered.

We offer completely FREE consulting to business owners and event planners just like you discover practical alternatives to single-use plastics. Together, we’ll find strategies that work for your unique needs – no cost, no pressure, just genuine support. The best part, you’ll be protecting both public health and our environment from the harmful impacts of single-use plastic production and waste.

We educate the public, media, and policymakers about the single-use plastic crisis and its impact on our communities, wildlife, and public health. By providing clear, science-based information, we help people understand why change matters and how they can be part of the solution.

We encourage businesses and government entities to eliminate single-use plastics by providing resources, connecting them with sustainable suppliers, and celebrating those who make the switch. We work with organizations of any size to adopt sustainable alternatives and policies.

We partner with local and state policymakers to adopt laws and policies that reduce single-use plastics and require companies to take responsibility for the entire lifecycle of their packaging. Smart policies create lasting change that benefits everyone.

We’re creating a strong network of community members, organizations, and businesses working together to reduce single-use plastic waste. When communities unite around shared values, we can achieve meaningful change that protects our health and environment for future generations.
