In my photo, you can see my water bottle. It’s got some dents and scratches because I use it every day. I take it with me when I drive, when I hike, when I travel, when I shop, when I go to meetings, appointments, and classes. I’m grateful to have my water with me….I live in Phoenix, after all. I’ve been using reusable water bottles for well over a decade. When I’m asked if I would like a bottle of water at an appointment, I say something like, “No thanks. I always carry my water bottle with me. I don’t like drinking out of plastic, and I’m trying to do what I can to decrease the amount of plastic in our world. I’m really concerned about the health and environmental damage they cause. I’m doing this for my children and grandchildren, and for yours too.” I say this as gently as possible, and often I get words of appreciation and mutual concern. Other times I hear, “One person really can’t make a difference.” I don’t believe that.
